We’re
going visiting!
In an effort to strengthen the good relationship between Gower St United church
and our own,
as well as supporting the on-going conversations between all the downtown
churches about cooperation and sharing resources,
we are excited to visit and share in worship at Gower on Sunday, July 25 and
Rev. Sue will lead worship while Rev. Marion Davis is away. Then Gower will
return the visit, closing their doors and coming to George St on Sunday, August
8 at 11:00 a.m. and Rev. Marion will lead worship while Rev. Sue is away.
Envelope donations will be sorted and returned to the church they belong; cash
donations on each Sunday will remain with the hosting church. Ushers at each
church will direct ‘strays’ to the appropriate building.

The Men's Choir have produced a CD of Hymns to send to Dave

OUTREACH AT GEORGE STREET UNITED CHURCH
Our Beginnings
The Soup Kitchen at George Street United Church was opened in the Jimmy Pratt
Memorial Outreach Centre with the support of Kathy LeGrow. Since its
inception in January 2002, the Soup Kitchen has fed
over 30,000 people the Soup Kitchen has not missed one Friday
of
serving.
Our Future
Thanks to the
patronage of Elinor Gill Ratcliffe and government grant monies, our Soup Kitchen
expanded to include a Computer Access Program.
In a Needs Assessment, many of our Soup Kitchen clients said
they required computers for job searching and
internet/ email access. A seniors' focus group also indicated
a need for computer access.
Our Sponsors
Through the
generous support of sponsors, we provide a hot, nutritious meal to 80-130 people
each Friday. We
sincerely thank all of our corporate and individual sponsors for their
continued support.
