OUTREACH AT GEORGE STREET
UNITED CHURCH
Our Beginnings
The Soup Kitchen at George
Street United Church was opened in the Jimmy Pratt Memorial Outreach Centre with
the support of Kathy LeGrow. Since its inception seven years ago the Soup
Kitchen has fed over 30,000 people. In its seven years of service the Soup
Kitchen has not missed one day of operation!
Our Future
Thanks to the patronage of Elinor Gill Ratcliffe and government
grant monies, our Soup Kitchen is expanding to include a Computer Access
Program. In a Needs Assessment, many of our Soup Kitchen clients said they
would like to learn how to use computers for job searching and internet/ email
access. This same need was indicated when we conducted a focus group with
Seniors to see what program opportunities they wished us to offer.
Our Sponsors
Through the generous support of our sponsors, we are able to provide
a hot, nutritious meal to 80-130 people in need each Friday. We would like to
thank all of our corporate and individual sponsors for their continued support.
Because of your generosity, our Soup Kitchen can feed 100 people for $75.00.
How You Can Help

Kitchen on Friday, 8:45am – 1:00pm
